About this project
This beautiful sandstone building has been converted from Community ‘Heswall Boys Club’ to a stunning home, named ‘Old School House’. The house is sympathetic to the architectural heritage of the original building, whilst utilising modern techniques to deliver a fantastic family home that blends seamlessly into the surrounding environment. Many of the original features, including the wooden internal roof supports, high ceilings and sandstone walls have been left exposed to maintain a link with the past. The feature gallery/office area provides a view across the main living space where natural light floods through. The front windows, boarded up ever since the bombing in WW2 have been re-glazed to their original splendour and ‘school clock’ mounted on the gable to benefit all the community. Very sympathetic Victorian-style glazing has been used throughout. Externally, a detached garage has been constructed which follows through to a landscaped garden with impressive views of the Dee Estuary.
